This simple, modern nativity shows Mary and Joseph leaning close over baby Jesus, held inside a gentle arch. It is hand-carved from olive wood in the West Bank, Palestine, just a short drive from where the Christmas story began in Bethlehem.

The olive wood grain flows through the whole piece in rich stripes of honey and brown. No two are the same. It stands on its own, so it looks lovely on a mantel, shelf or table all year round.

The Christmas story is also a story of displacement. A young family found no room at the inn, then fled their home to keep their child safe. Families in Palestine know that story well.
