Handmade Ceramic Watermelon Soap Dish | Made in the West Bank, Palestine

£18.00

Short description
A hand-painted ceramic soap dish shaped like a watermelon slice. Made in the West Bank, Palestine. The perfect home for your Lush Watermelon Slice soap.

Full description

A slice of hope for your bathroom.

This triangular soap dish is shaped and painted like a slice of watermelon. Bright red flesh, black seeds and a green rind around the edge. One of the seeds is a small hole, so water drains away and your soap stays dry. The glossy glaze makes it easy to wipe clean.

It is shaped to hold a triangular bar of soap, like Lush’s Watermelon Slice. Pair them together for a gift that gives twice.

Why the watermelon?

For Palestinians, the watermelon is more than a fruit. It shares the colours of the Palestinian flag: red, green, black and white. For years under occupation, showing the flag in public could get you arrested. So artists and ordinary people used the watermelon instead. A slice of fruit became a quiet way to say: we are still here.

Today the watermelon is a symbol of Palestinian solidarity all over the world. You see it on placards, murals and phone screens. It stands for identity, resilience and hope.

Each dish is handmade and painted in the West Bank, Palestine. No two are exactly alike. Your purchase supports fair work for Palestinian artisans.

This dish is part of our Watermelon collection and our Joy in Resistance campaign: beautiful things made by people who are still here.
