Handmade Ceramic Dove Ornament | Palestinian Tatreez Design | Made in the West Bank
Short description
A handmade ceramic dove painted with traditional Palestinian tatreez embroidery in red. Made in the West Bank, Palestine. A symbol of peace and freedom.
Full description
This ceramic dove carries the pattern of tatreez, the traditional cross-stitch embroidery of Palestine. For centuries, Palestinian women stitched tatreez onto their dresses. Each village had its own patterns and colours. A woman’s dress could tell you where she was from. Tatreez is now recognised by UNESCO as part of the world’s cultural heritage.
Here, the stitches are painted by hand in deep red onto white ceramic. Red is the colour most often used in Palestinian embroidery. The dove is a symbol of peace and of freedom. Together, they carry a simple message: a free Palestine, with its culture alive.
Each dove is handmade in the West Bank, Palestine. It comes on a natural jute string, ready to hang on your tree, in a window or anywhere you want a reminder of hope. Your purchase supports fair work for Palestinian artisans.
This dove is part of our Joy in Resistance collection: beautiful things made by people who are still here.
