In 2019 we teamed up with renowned British textile artist & designer Margo Selby. Margo is an architect of intricate patterns and bold colors, creating wonderful and stylish products for people’s homes. Our aim to fuse Margo’s incredible talent and expertise with the creativity and skills learning of our team in Greece. The outcome: the Margo Selby X Love Welcomes collection.
Margo has pushed the boundaries of weaving throughout her career, creating unique but instantly recognisable products. This recognition is seen through awards – just this year the Collect Open Award at Somerset House in London, through media – recently featured in Elle decoration as the ‘British textiles maverick’, and through galleries from London to New York – The Conservatory in New York City – not to mention Margo’s collaboration with West Elm!
In 2019, to launch our collaboration, Love Welcomes CEO Abi Hewitt asked Margo to join her on a trip to the refugee camp in Greece to meet the team, help develop their technical skills and teach them to weave a set of products to be developed in the Margo Selby studio. An opportunity to share learning, inspiration, skills, and create truly unique products. We learnt so much, inspired by Margo’s attention to the process between our artisans, their creativity, the loom and the story behind each product.

The stories of our team have been a foundation for the collaboration, and these are symbolised in each product through the use of life jacket and rescue blanket materials – every piece a tiny part of a much bigger story for refugees. For our team of women, there is great pride in creating these beautiful products and great value in the skills learned to support them on their journey to a safe home for them and their families.
